Dravyaguna Department –
Dravyaguna subject deals with the study of drugs which can be used to keep person healthy or to treat their diseases. Here the main source of drug is herbal medicine like Guduchi, Neem, Vasa, Tulsi etc. as well as some metallic compound, animal origin substances like Kasturi, Gorochan etc. are studied in detail. As Acharya charak has considered second most important factor in Chikitsa Chatuspad is Drug, its complete knowledge is required for any physician to get definite success. The subject deals with Pharmacognostic aspect and Pharmacological aspect of herbal drug. To standardize herbal drug its organoleptic study like morphological evaluation, microscopic study and different analytical parameter are need to be study. Therapeutic evaluation and pharmacological study are also important to study of any new medicine or classical drug. The knowledge of substitute and adulterants are also required to identify genuine drug.
Here we are working with the aim to give through knowledge of subject to students of Ayurveda as well as from any other branch. We are doing our best efforts to generate public awareness to identify, grow and use herbal plants in their daily life to keep them healthy. We are trying to enrich our ancient knowledge of plants with sharing and involving general public with different activities and projects.

Activities of Department
Teaching of subject with its theoretical and practical aspect is our priority. Different activities like group study, project work submission, and plantation program, and awareness program, exhibition of drugs at different places, guest lecture series, plant distribution program, and plant nursery are cautiously going on in the department.
